Privacy Policy โ Odo
Last updated: August 9, 2026
The short version
Odo needs location access to notice that you have driven somewhere. That location data is used on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone, and is never uploaded anywhere. There are no accounts, no analytics SDKs and no advertising. We do not have servers that could receive your movements even if we wanted them.
Why the app asks for "Always" location access
Automatic trip detection only works if the app can notice a drive that happened while it was closed. Odo uses iOS visit monitoring and significant-location-change events โ the low-power APIs that report "you arrived somewhere" and "you left somewhere" โ rather than continuously recording a GPS trace. That is what makes background detection possible without flattening your battery.
If you decline, the app still works: you can add trips by hand and everything else behaves normally. You can change your mind at any time in iPhone Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Location Services โ Odo, or turn automatic tracking off inside Odo's own Settings tab.
What the app stores, and where
Trips (start and end times, distance, start and end coordinates and place names, purpose and any reason you type), saved places, vehicles, your chosen tax scheme and any rates you have edited are stored locally on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes all of it. Nothing is backed up to us, because there is no "us" to back it up to.
What leaves your phone
Only two things, and neither contains location data:
- Purchases. Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed by Apple. To validate them we use RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous purchase receipt and a random app-generated identifier โ never your name, email, Apple ID or any trip. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
- CSV exports you choose to share. When you export, iOS hands the file to whatever you pick โ Mail, Files, your accountant's app. That is your action and your destination; the file never passes through us.
Analytics and tracking
The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites.
